Davar4

Last stable version of Davar4 (version 4.0.2). Program is distributed as installation exe file. Download file, run it and follow the instructions. There are some starting book modules presented in this package (KJV+, BHS, TR+) and basic Hebrew and Greek lexicons (STRIPD_HE, STRIPD_GR), writings (Synopsis) and user notes. Included are also samples from of Bible Land Maps package and Hebrew narration of book of Ecclesiastes in mp3 (to hear it, open together with Biblia Hebraica module). Added sample of Koine Greek narration of 1 John in mp3 (open together with included TR+ module).
For mature users, there is Module Development Kit (MDK) with 6 examples - prepared texts which can be converted to Davar modules by using of provided convertor programs. This can be good starting point for creation of next Davar modules by users.
Installation package includes English and Czech help files with many pictures, we recommend to read to see all program features. Optionally, you can install the PDF book "Hebrew is easy" in English and Czech.

Davar4 zip package
Davar4 zipped "basic" installation. Just unzip this package, keep all directories inside package. There are no modules presented. Greek and Hebrew fonts are included, must be manually installed. This package is prepared mainly for Linux / Wine users to avoid possible problems when run setup exe program.

Charles Thomsons English translation of LXX and NT. Charles Thomson's Translation of the Old Covenant is a direct translation of the Greek Septuagint version of the Old Testament into English, rare for its time. The work took 19 years to complete and was originally published in 1808. Thomson is credited with having created the work with little to no help from other scholars. Charles Thompson was a Greek scholar, and before the American Revolution, had been a teacher at several prominent schools. Thomson's translation of the entire Greek Bible, excluding the Apocrypha, was published in one thousand sets of four volumes each, the fourth volume being Thomson's translation of the New Testament in that same year. Thomson's was the first English translation of the Septuagint published, and was considered by British biblical scholars to represent the best in American scholarship.

It is scrupulously exact in typesetting right down to the italics and punctuation. The Pure Cambridge Edition (first published circa 1900) is the product of the process of textual purification that has occurred since 1611 when the Authorized Version was completed, and has been used (often unwittingly) as the received text for many decades. Millions of copies conformed to this edition were issued by Bible and missionary societies in the twentieth century. This text stands in contrast to all other editions (especially newly edited and modernised ones). Isaac Leeser (December 12, 1806 – February 1, 1868) was an American, Ashkenazi Jewish lay minister of religion, author, translator, editor, and publisher; pioneer of the Jewish pulpit in the United States, and founder of the Jewish press of America. He produced the first Jewish translation of the Bible into English to be published in the United States. He is considered one of the most important American Jewish personalities of the nineteenth century America. Leeser began with a five-volume, bilingual Hebrew–English edition of the Torah and haftarot, The Law of God (Philadelphia, 1845). The complete translation of the entire Bible was published as The Twenty-four books of the Holy Scriptures in 1853 (commonly called The Leeser Bible). In 1857 he re-issued it in a second (folio-size) edition, with abridged notes.

Dr John Wesley Etheridge's translation of the Western Peshitto. In the late 1840’s, J. W. Etheridge produced a translation of the NT Peshitta that was very literal, using the eastern pronunciation of proper names and places. His work is entitled A Literal Translation of the Four Gospels from the Peshito or Canon of Holy Scripture in Use Among the Oriental Christians from the Earliest Times. Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans, London published the complete volume of the translation in 1849. Etheridge was a Doctor in Philosophy of the University of Heidelberg and member of the Asiatic Society of Paris. James Murdock's translation of the Western Peshitto. James Murdock published The New Testament, A Literal Translation from the Syriac Peshito Version, in 1851. The publishers were Robert Carter & Brothers, New York. The preface of his volume contains a brief account regarding his reasons for producing an Aramaic translation. The style of the translation uses the solemn “thee’s and thou’s” as in the King James and translates Meshikha as the Messiah and not Christ. He endeavors to translate the idioms as fully as possible without sacrificing English grammar. This edition has gratefully made use of work done by Gary Cernava in scanning and transcribing the editions of Murdock and Etheridge. Písmo svaté Starého i Nového Zákona podle ekumenického vydání z r. 2001 © Ekumenická rada církví v ČR. První společný, mezicírkevní biblický překlad v českých dějinách. Je plodem dlouholeté ekumenické spolupráce překladatelů (1961-1979). Starozákonní překladatelskou skupinu vedl prof. Miloš Bič, Novozákonní skupinu překladatelů prof. J. B. Souček (po jeho smrti, od r. Jindřich Mánek z Husovy bohoslovecké fakulty a od r. 1977 Petr Pokorný z Evangelické teologické fakulty). Tyto skupiny, od počátku koncipované jako ekumenické, zahrnovaly zprvu vedle evangelických biblistů (Českobratrská církev evangelická, Církev bratrská, Evangelická církev metodistická) i biblisty z Církve československé husitské a z Církve pravoslavné. Brzy se s pověřením svých biskupů připojili i biblisté z Církve římskokatolické.

 Colův překlad NZ (Czech) (Info) ColNZ
Colova úprava Sýkorova překladu v revizi Hejčlově (1947). Překlad NZ v revizi Colově je třetím článkem návazné překladatelské linie Sýkora – Sýkora/Hejčl – Col. Rudolf Col navazuje na svého předchůdce Hejčla, který zrevidoval Sýkorův překlad. Col jde ve svém díle mnohem dál a dochází tak k radikálnějšímu přepracování, zvláště v apoštolských listech. Nejprve jde o mírnější formu revize z roku 1947, kdy se orientuje sice na řecký text, ale stále přihlíží i k textu latinskému. Pak roku 1961 vydává v podstatě vlastní samostatný překlad, kdy hlavní předlohou mu je řecký text (kritické vydání Augustina Merka). Na Sýkoru-Hejčla navazuje spíše jen ideově. Nicméně vydání z roku 1961 spadá do doby, kdy se již objevily další katolické překlady NZ, třísvazkový Škrabal-Petrů (1951/1954/1955) a NZ v překladu Pavla Škrabala (1948), který dlouho čekal na církevní schválení (imprimatur). Podobná konkurenční situace se týkala i třetího a posledního vydání z roku 1970 (je téměř totožné s vyd. 1961), kdy se k nám z emigrace dostávají Nové zákony velmi čtivého textu Ondřeje M. Petrů. Je zajímavé, že právě na text O. M. Petrů naváže další překladatel NZ Václav Bogner, jehož text se prosadí v textech katolické liturgie po 2. vatikánském koncilu. Col byl zastáncem moderní textové kritiky a hlásil se k soudobému vědeckému poznání. Samotný text se snažil oživit modernímu čtenáři používáním propracované moderní češtiny. Na druhou stranu zachovává úctu k předešlé překladatelské tradici. Také jako jeden z prvních katolických překladatelů konzultoval svou práci s filology. V tomto ohledu mu mohl být zdrojem inspirace František Žilka, který ve stejné době pracoval na svém překladu NZ. Dalším důležitým inspiračním zdrojem byl patrně taktéž v té době nově vydaný NZ Pavla Škrabala (1948) a edice Škrabal-Petrů (1951/1954/1955).

 Český studijní překlad (Info) Český studijní překlad
Český studijní překlad chce přinést současnému českému čtenáři kvalitní a přesný překlad Bible. Jde o překlad studijní, v co největší míře konkordantní a důsledný. Je určen především pro každodenní studium a výklad Písma Písmem. Jeho nedílnou součástí je proto bohatý odkazový a poznámkový aparát. Naší cílovou skupinou jsou hlavně lidé, kteří chtějí jít hlouběji „do Písma“, ale nemají znalost originálních biblických jazyků. Rádi bychom, aby tento nový překlad navázal na národní písmáckou tradici, na kvality a duchovní význam Bible Kralické. Cílem překladatelského týmu je umožnit českému čtenáři, neznalému původních biblických jazyků, bibli nejen číst, ale skutečně hloubkově studovat. Čím se ČSP snaží dosáhnout svých cílů? Na rozdíl od většiny jiných překladů se u mnoha veršů snaží nabídnout nejen tu překladovou variantu, která je překladatelům nejbližší, ale v poznámce pod čarou i další možnosti. Pokud je to možné, snaží se být tzv. konkordantní – tedy stejné slovo v originálním jazyce překládat stejným českým slovem. Používá speciálně vyvinutý bohatý poznámkový aparát, který zahrnuje mimořádný záběr desítek tisíc jazykových, historických a výkladových poznámek a odkazů. Poznámky se zabývají textem a faktografií a vyhýbají se teologickým interpretacím. Tím je ČSP dobrým kandidátem pro široké využití všemi křesťany bez ohledu na církevní příslušnost. Obsahuje také dohromady 70 stran dalších příloh a map. Specialitou ČSP je také to, že při jeho vzniku byl využíván unikátní překladatelský software BTr, vyvinutý na míru vedoucím týmu A. Zelinou.  Hejčl 1930 (Info) Hejčl
Jan Nepomuk Hejčl vyrůstal v Žamberku v rodině Václava a Anny Hejčlových, společně se sestrami Marií Alžbětou (1871) a Annou Žofií (1874). Po studiu na gymnáziu v Hradci Králové vstoupil do kněžského semináře. Po vysvěcení na kněze působil jako kaplan v Čermné. Ve studiu pokračoval ve Vídni, kde získal doktorát teologie; orientalistiku studoval v Berlíně a Mnichově. Začátkem 20. století podnikl studijní cestu po Palestině, Sýrii a Egyptě. Po návratu se stal profesorem obecné pedagogiky a biblického studia Starého zákona v diecézním semináři v Hradci Králové. Od roku 1909 byl profesorem a v letech 1914–1916 pak děkanem Teologické fakulty v Olomouci. V letech 1917-1925 vydal ve třech svazcích svůj nový překlad Starého zákona z latinské Vulgáty, ale s ohledem na původní hebrejské texty. Upravil také překlad Nového zákona J. L. Sýkory a kromě toho publikoval studie a popularizační články v Časopise katolického duchovenstva. Předmětem jeho zájmu byla biblistika, liturgika, a orientalistika, spolupracoval také na přípravě Českého slovníku bohovědného (1912–1932).

 Jeruzalémská Bible 2012 - PRACOVNÍ VERZE - PRŮBĚŽNĚ AKTUALIZOVÁNO (Info) Jeruzalémská Bible-pracovní verze
Jeruzalémská bible je špičkové dílo katolické biblistiky druhé poloviny 20. století. Vzešla z prací Jeruzalémské biblické školy, založené v roce 1890 z iniciativy dominikánského řádu, v níž se po desítky let převážně francouzští badatelé věnovali studiu a výzkumu na poli biblické filologie, historie a archeologie. Na základě zevrubné a velmi přesné exegetické práce vznikl pak z původních jazyků nejprve francouzský překlad – La Bible de Jérusalem (JB), 1. vydání 1954, definitivní 1973 –, jenž se stal základem pro další edice v hlavních evropských jazycích. Hlavní zásadou jeho tvůrců je nevnášet do biblického překladu literární kvality, které nejsou vlastní originálu. Druhou předností vloženou do tohoto díla jsou úvody k jednotlivým biblickým knihám a pomocný poznámkový aparát, které každému čtenáři Bible dodávají nejdůležitější poznatky interpretační, aniž by ho zbytečně zatěžovaly svým rozsahem. Česká verze Jeruzalémské bible vzniká metodou srovnávacího překladu z francouzštiny (originální znění JB) a původních biblických jazyků (pro přesné rozpoznání předlohy). Její autoři berou v potaz i bohatou tradici českých biblických překladů 20. století, které se můžou stát inspirací, cennou zejména po terminologické stránce. Žádný ale není měřítkem, či dokonce svazujícím břemenem v otázce jazykového stylu. I pro tvůrce české JB je totiž nejdůležitější, aby výsledek jejich práce byl věrný biblickému originálu, s co nejpatrnějším uchováním jeho stylu i literární formy. Manželé Dagmar a František X. Halasovi zahájili práci na českém překladu v roce 1980, v polistopadové době se začalo s publikováním prvních sešitů pracovního vydání. Průběžně pokračují redakční práce, aby česká Jeruzalémská bible vyšla co nejdřív jako celek. Pracovní vydání české verze Jeruzalémské bible je určeno k diskusi mezi odbornou i laickou veřejností. Jeruzalémská bible je špičkové dílo katolické biblistiky druhé poloviny 20. století. Bible svatá aneb všechna písma Starého i Nového zákona podle posledního vydání Kralického z roku 1613. Bible kralická představuje v plném slova smyslu vrchol české reformace. Je výslednicí mnoholetých zápasů několika generací o upevnění a jednotlivost reformačního světového názoru a jeho jednoznačnou formulaci. Byla přeložená převážně z řečtiny a hebrejštiny, vytištěná v Kralicích n. Osl. v českobratrské tiskárně, v letech 1579 – 1594 rozdělaná do šesti dílů a jako dvě jednodílné 1596 a 1613. Bratří se drželi starších překladů do češtiny. Podle svých předloh je ovšem opravovali a pečlivě jazykově upravovali. Vytvořili tak pravý poklad českého jazyka, vrchol překladatelského úsilí slovanských národů. Udržovala naši řeč na výši přes období temna a úpadku v 17. a 18. století. Hluboce zasáhla do náboženského a literárního života na Slovensku a inspirovala naše buditele. Ještě před dokončením Bible kralické – šestidílné (1579 – 94) viděli bratří, že pro praktickou potřebu bude nutno vydat levnější bibli v menším formátu a v jednom svazku. Tak došlo k vydání jednodílné Bible kralické roku 1596. Rozdělení na šest dílů je ponecháno. Vrcholem produkce knih potřebných pro církevní život sborů jednoty bratrské je vydání jednodílné Bible kralické roku 1613, jíž končí padesátiletá překladatelská a vydavatelská činnost jednoty bratrské a jejíž revidovaný text se stal základem pro další vydání exulantská i potoleranční. Po stránce grafické je to kniha tištěná velkým zřetelným písmem, jež bylo záměrně zvoleno pro čtenáře oslabeného zraku. Rozdělení na šest dílů je ponecháno. Je to vydání, podle něhož jsou tištěny většiny novodobých vydání Bible kralické. Po roce 1613 po celé století nevyšlo žádné další vydání české bible. Jednota bratrská je v té době rozptýlená a její život je podlomený. J. A. Komenský vydává roku 1658 v Amsterodamu jako náhradu pouze zkrácenou bibli pod názvem Manuálník nebo Jádro Bible svaté. Kralická Bible 1613 se Strongovými čísly (Info) Kralická Bible 1613 se Strongovými čísly (NZ)
Bible Kralická (1613) je považována za velice dobrý překlad bible, a je tomu tak zcela poprávu. A přestože od její první verze (1579) uplynulo již přes 400 let, a přestože za tu dobu vzniklo mnoho dalších českých překladů bible, stále ještě jsou v ČR sbory, které na "Kraličku" nedají dopustit, jiný překlad bible nepoužívají a ani neuznávají. Na svou věrnost Kralickému překladu a "znalost staročeštiny" jsou obvykle velice pyšní (doslova). Nicméně těch 436 let od vydání první verze Bible Kralické je na vývoji jazyka velice znát. Mnoha staročeským výrazům dnešní český čtenář nerozumí vůbec, a co je asi ještě horší, význam některých slov se za tu dobu posunul. Tato verze určená pro Davar 4 je doplněná o Strongova čísla, s možností využívání Řecko českého slovníku prof. Tichého. Kromě toho obsahuje něco přes 500 poznámek - vysvětlení významu staročeských slov, upozornění u veršů, které jsou přeloženy nesprávně nebo které umožňují jiný způsob překladu apod.

Kurzův překlad NZ (Info) Kurzův překlad NZ
Z řečtiny přeložil Josef Kurz 1980. Tento PARAFRÁZOVANÝ překlad byl dokončen v roce 1980, knižně vyšel v roce 2013. Text je v tištěné podobě rozdělen do jednotlivých částí a opatřen úvody i dodatky. Ve verzi pro program Davar4 jsou vypuštěny. Autor vystudoval lingvistiku na Univerzitě Karlově, působil jako profesor českého, slovenského a německého jazyka. Kázal v Křesťanských sborech a později v Církvi bratrské v Praze na Žižkově.

Studijní charakter Pavlíkova překladu je zřetelný z bohatého poznámkového aparátu, v němž jsou obsaženy překladové varianty, textová kritika, lingvistické a teologické poznámky. Proto četba tohoto překladu je náročná, ale v důsledku ovšem obohacující. Miloš Pavlík ve své předmluvě píše, že: „Plné přesvědčení o Božím vdechnutí Písem vedlo k snaze překládati tak doslovně, jak jen bylo možno; bylo-li někde, ať v zájmu srozumitelnosti či pro vyhnutí přílišným jazykovým tvrdostem, záhodno podati překlad volnější — leckdy lze volnějším překladem vystihnouti smysl originálu lépe než překladem formálně doslovným — je doslovný překlad zpravidla uveden v poznámce pod čarou se značkou „D.“ („doslovně“).“ Výsledný překlad není tedy doslovný za každou cenu (na úkor srozumitelnosti). Spíše jde o snahu podat překlad výstižný (přesný), který se snaží vystihnout intence původního hebrejského a řeckého textu. Tuto snahu můžeme například vidět ve slovosledu, který – jak říká sám překladatel: „se na mnoha místech více než je snad v jiných překladech obvyklé odchýlil od slovosledu původního textu. To zejména proto, že slovosledem se zhusta vyjadřuje důraz na některé části věty, a to se v řečtině Nového Zákona namnoze děje jinak než v češtině.“

Tento překlad tvoří prostřední článek v tzv. novější řadě katolických novozákonních překladů, jež vycházely primárně z řecké předlohy. Člen dominikánského řádu Ondřej Maria Petrů (1915 Klatovec – 1970 Vídeň) navázal na překlad svého řádového spolubratra Pavla Škrabala (1. vyd. 1948) a sám se stal předchůdcem pozdějšího liturgického překladu Václava Bognera (1. vyd. 1989).Ucelené vydání překladu NZ od O. M. Petrů vyšlo poprvé v roce 1969 v Křesťanské akademii v Římě (KAŘ), kde Petrů po své emigraci převážně působil. V 70. a 80. letech byl tento překlad tajně distribuován v komunistickém Československu. V roce 1992 ho se svolením KAŘ a s některými stylistickými úpravami (zvláště na základě recenze vyd. Ve Studiích IV.) vydalo nakladatelství Cor Jesu v Českém Těšíně. Ze stejné textové předlohy (s opravou tiskových chyb) vychází digitální verze pro tento modul.

Nový Zákon – Sýkorův překlad (1922/23) Jan Ladislav Sýkora a jeho překlad NZ stojí na samém počátku nové tradice překládání bible u nás ve 20. století. Stal se prvním článkem návazné překladatelské, resp. redakční linie Sýkora – Sýkora/Hejčl – Col. Postupně pronikal mezi běžné katolické věřící a získával na oblibě i mezi intelektuály. Navíc Sýkorův NZ byl zařazen do tzv. „Podlahovy Bible“ (Bible české – přeložené Janem Hejčlem). Sýkorův překlad NZ vycházel v mnoha vydáních, kdy jednotlivé edice nesou stopy korektur či jiných inovací v překladovém textu. První vydání Sýkorova NZ vyšla v roce 1909 (evangelia) a 1914 (epištoly). Další vydání NZ (nebo v částech) vyšla v letech: 1921, 1922, 1923, 1926. Vydání, které předkládáme veřejnosti, je druhým dílem Hejčlovy Bible (Bible české) z let 1922 (Evangelia a Skutky) a 1923 (Epištoly a kniha Zjevení). Právě tohle vydání Sýkorova překladu se stalo podkladem pro Hejčlovu revizi. Sýkorův překlad je samostatným dílem, které není pouhou revizí dosavadních překladů. Ovšem v celém díle jsou patrné stopy bible Svatojanské a vliv překladu NZ od Františka Sušila. Předlohou pro Sýkorův překlad NZ byla, jak bylo tehdy pro katolické biblické dílo běžné, latinská Vulgáta, avšak ne jen v běžné tištěné podobě, nýbrž srovnával řadu starých latinských rukopisů Vulgáty. Přitom neustále přihlížel k poslednímu kritickému vydání řeckého NZ (Hetzenauer) i k jiným, jemu dostupným, starým řeckým rukopisům. V podstatě na mnoha místech prováděl vlastní textovou kritiku a mnohdy překládal z řecké předlohy a k Vulgátě pouze přihlížel. Tímto přístupem překonává předchozí katolické překladatele a stává se tak i dílem přelomovým v počátcích první fáze moderního českého nz. překládání. Není také divu, že na Sýkorův NZ navázal Jan Hejčl, který také celé jeho dílo přepracoval, a posléze na Sýkoru-Hejčla navazuje další katolický překladatel Rudolf Col (1947 a 1961).

Roku 1948 vyšel v Olomouci překlad dominikána Pavla Škrabala, který pak znovu vyšel 1969 v Římě.
ZilkaNZ
 Žilkův překlad NZ (Info) Žilkův překlad NZ
Překlad Nového zákona od evangelického teologa a historika, prof. dr. Františka Žilky (1. června 1871 Dolní Rosička, okres Žďár nad Sázavou – 9. února 1944 Praha), vyšel poprvé v celku roku 1933. Následovalo dalších pět vydání, dosud poslední v roce 1970. Jde o překlad z řečtiny do soudobé češtiny, s využitím historicko-kritické metody jak při volbě originálních textů (edice Nestle – Aland), tak při samotném překladu. Žilkův překlad nese stopy ohledu na tradici bible kralické, která v první polovině 20. století nadále byla v protestantském prostředí hlavním textem k soukromé četbě i bohoslužbě. Nicméně se necítí vázán předchozí českou překladatelskou tradicí ani souběžným úsilím katolických překladatelů (zejména o 20 let starší Sýkorův překlad) a opouští do značné míry archaické tradiční obraty. Tím vyvolal ve své době živý ohlas a zůstává zajímavým dokladem i pro současné zájemce o hlubší poznání Písma.

Preklad Jozefa Roháčka - autorizovaná verzia Dušana Seberíniho. Preklad je legálna verzia, ktorá vznikla na základe zmluvného súhlasu majiteľa autorských práv pôvodného prekladu Jozefa Roháčka. Účel vzniku autorizovanej verzie je nahradiť zaužívanú prezývku Boha Stvoriteľa „Hospodin“ skutočným menom Jehovah. Podnázov prekladu „Autorizovaná verzia Dušana Seberíniho“ je zmluvne určený ako súčasť celého názvu, ktorým sa táto verzia determinuje, nakoľko sa predpokladá, že pôvodný preklad Jozefa Roháčka bude používaný a vydávaný naďalej. Božie meno v tvare Jehovah je v slovenčine málo známe a temer vôbec nepoužívané, avšak spoluhlásková verzia JHVH – nazývaná tetragramaton (štvorpísmenie) – je v teologickej literatúre bežná. Z toho dôvodu je použitý tvar JeHoVaH , ktorý je zvýraznením tetragramatonu a súčasne samohláskami napovedá slovenskú výslovnosť. Teda nejde o teologickú formu, ale o gramatické podanie s fonetickou nápoveďou. Pádotvorné prípony v tomto podaní nie sú teologickou interpretáciou, ale len gramatickou náväznosťou k základnému tvaru. Pre knižné vydanie tejto verzie sa predpokladá prirodzené používanie tvaru Jehovah – v jeho celom morfologickom intervale. Zdanlivým teologickým problémom je použitie Božieho mena v NZ. Tento problém doporučujem riešiť najprv cez United Bible Societes ktorej členom je aj Slovenská biblická spoločnosť. United Bible Societes vlastní autorské práva na preklad NZ do súčasnej hebrejčiny - ivritu. V texte toho prekladu je Božie meno uvedené vyše dvesto ráz v tvare Jehovah - s uvedením tej istej punktačnej vokalizácie, ako ju poznáme z masorétskych textov v SZ. (Preklad NZ do ivritu je v ponuke všetkých klasických biblických spoločností.) V ROH-AV je zachovaný pravopis, ktorý bol zaužívaný do roku 1931. Ostatné zmeny v ROH-AV budú presne determinované v prílohe knižného vydania. Ex 33:13-15

Spolok Svätého Vojtecha, Trnava is owner of the publishing rights for texts of old testament and new testament in Slovak catholic translation.  Aleppo codex (Hebrew) (Info) Aleppo codex
Aleppo codex was written around A.D. 920 in Palestine, probably in the vicinity of Tiberias, where Jewish scholars developed the system of vowel pointing which was to become the standard Masoretic system of vocalization. It received the name of "Aleppo Codex" because for about five centuries it was kept in the synagogue in Aleppo, northern Syria. Prior to this it had been in Cairo (Egypt) for a time. The codex was used as a model for the correct pointing, paragraphing and formatting of the text.

Primární transliterace jednoznačně transformuje grafickou formu hebrejského textu na grafickou formu textu v evropské latince s diakritikou.
Nejsou skrývány neznělé hlásky, kromě váv a jód v přepisu šúrek „û“, plného chólem „ô“, chírek „ȋ“, sëgól „ȇ“ a ṣéré „ê“.
Hlavním účelem této transliterace je usnadnit orientaci v textu čtenáři, který není navyklý na hebrejský text, zejména při porovnávání s překlady do jazyků psaných latinkou. Naopak účelem není transkripce výslovnosti, i když k jejímu usnadnění transliterace přispívá.
Protože se lze spolehnout na přesnou korespondenci se zdrojovým textem, může transliterovaný text celého Písma pro některé studijní účely zcela nahradit text hebrejský.

1. Seznam knih má reformační nikoli židovské pořadí proto, aby byla snažší orientace při porovnávání textu s jeho překlady.
2. Z informace o lemmatu je ponecháno jen Strongovo číslo kvůli propojení s lexikonem.
3. Rozdělení slova na části je zachováno, ale je možné ho skrýt, aby nerušilo.
4. Pokud ve dvojici ḳëré/këtíḇ jedno ze slov chybí je na příslušné místo vloženo 2x zajin jako v BHS
5. Podle BHS je opraveno ve 2M 17:15 sousloví H3071 na dvě oddělená slova H3068 a H5251
6. Nejsou transliterovány značky pro „ḳëré perpetuum“, kterými je nepatřičně „vokalizováno“ Boží jméno.
7. Jména jsou přepisována s velkým počátečním písmenem (podle morfologických značek Np a Ng).

Primary transliteration unambiguously transforms the graphic form of the Hebrew text into the graphic form of the text in European Latin with diacritics.
Unvoiced voices are not hidden, except "váv" and "jôd" in the transcription of "šûreḳ" -> "û", "ħólem málé‛" -> "ô", "ħȋreḳ málé‛" -> "ȋ", "sëḡôl málé‛" -> "ȇ" and "ṣérê málé‛" -> "ê".
The main purpose of this transliteration is to facilitate orientation in the text by the reader who is not accustomed to the Hebrew text, especially when comparing with translations into languages written in Latin. On the contrary, the purpose is not to transcribe pronunciation, although transliteration contributes to its facilitation.
Because accurate correspondence with the source text can be relied upon, the transliterated text of the entire Scriptures can, for some study purposes, completely replace the Hebrew text.

This module contains the text of the 1905 BFBS (British and Foreign Bible Society) Peshitto edition, which is now in the public domain. Specifically, it is the text published by the Turkish Bible Society. This text has been entered and checked by Ewan MacLeod and is now in the public domain. The text contains full vowels to represent the vowels in the Serto script used in the 1905 BFBS edition, and some Hebrew accents (teamim) have also been used to preserve other features present in the Serto script of the BFBS edition. Most of these accents are in keeping with their meaning in the Hebrew Tanakh. This edition has been painstakingly checked for accuracy against other electronic (online) editions as well as the printed 1905 BFBS edition. A number of errors in other electronic editions have been identified and are not present in this database. We therefore believe this to be the most complete and accurate electronic edition of the 1905 BFBS edition available anywhere.

The Reina-Valera is a Spanish translation of the Bible originally published in 1602 when Cipriano de Valera revised the earlier translation produced in 1569 by Casiodoro de Reina known as the "Biblia del Oso" (in English: Bible of the Bear) because the illustration on the title page showed a bear trying to reach a container of honeycombs hanging from a tree. Since that date it has undergone various revisions notably those of 1909, 1960 and 1995 and more recently in 2011. The Reina-Valera Bible is as central to the perception of the scriptures by Protestants in Spanish as the Geneva Bible and the King James Version in English.

The first official Bible translation of the entire Bible into Afrikaans was completed in 1933 by J. D. du Toit, E. E. van Rooyen, J. D. Kestell, H. C. M. Fourie, and BB Keet. The Afrikaans Bible was introduced to Afrikaans-speaking Christian community during a Bible Festival in Bloemfontein, on 27 August 1933. By the 20 year anniversary in 1953, the Afrikaans language had changed quite a bit (since the 1933 translation was translated deliberately in old-fashioned language that resembled the old Dutch Statenvertaling, to prevent it from being rejected by Christians who were used to using the Dutch translation). The 1953 edition contained a number of small changes and changes to the spelling of names. The 1953 edition also introduced copious cross-references that were present in all subsequent prints of that edition.

Stąd nazwa niniejszego przekładu - Nowa Biblia Gdańska. Stary Testament opracowaliśmy na bazie hebrajsko - polskiego przekładu Tanach - dokonanego przez Izaaka Cylkowa, greckiego tekstu Septuaginty oraz Biblii Gdańskiej; zaś Nowy Testament tłumaczyliśmy ze zbioru greckich manuskryptów, znanych jako "Textus Receptus".

The Nova Vulgata is the official Latin version of the Bible for the Catholic Church. It has its origins in the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), which put forth the mandate for a revision of the Latin Psalter in order to bring it in line with modern text-critical research. Then in 1965, Pope Paul VI established a commission to expand the revision to cover the entire Bible. The revised Psalter was completed and published in 1969, followed by the New Testament in 1971, and the entire Vulgate was completed in 1979. A second edition was then published several years later in 1986. The textual basis of the Nova Vulgata is the critical edition of Jerome's Vulgate, as edited by the monks of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Jerome in Rome and the critical edition of the Vulgate edited by Robert Weber (also available with a critical apparatus in the German Bible Society Bundle). The basis for Tobit and Judith are the Old Latin manuscripts that predate Jerome's translation. Together this collection of texts were revised according to modern critical editions of the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, along with a number of places where the editors believed that Jerome had misunderstood the meaning of the original or had translated it obscurely. The original goal of the Nova Vulgata was to provide an authoritative edition of Jerome's translation for the production of a reformed Latin liturgy, while also correcting the Vulgate in use and taking into account other important liturgical factors such as readability in public and singability for choirs.

Przekładu tego dokonano na polecenie księcia Mikołaja Radziwiłła, w najlepszych czasach Polskiej Reformacji. Jeden z nich posłużył jako podstawa do sporządzenia mikrofilmów, a następnie transkrypcji tekstu i zapisania go w formie elektronicznej. Zespół dokonujący tej pracy, udostępnia jej owoce polskim chrześcijanom, filologom i wszystkim zainteresowanym do dowolnego prywatnego wykorzystania, pod warunkiem zachowania tekstu w niezmienionej formie, włączając niniejszą informację o prawach autorskich. Biblię Brzeską można cytować, powielać na prywatny użytek, drukować fragmenty. Івана Огієнка Metropolitan Ilarion (secular name Ivan Ivanovitch Ohienko; Ukrainian: Іван Іванович Огієнко; January 2 (January 14), 1882 in Brusilov, Kiev Governorate – March 29, 1972 in Winnipeg, Canada) was a Ukrainian Orthodox cleric, linguist, church historian, and historian of Ukrainian culture. In 1940 he was Archimandrite of the St. Onuphrius Monastery in Jableczna; in 1940 he became Bishop of Chełm; in 1944 he became the Metropolitan of Chełm and Lublin (Podlaskie), and in 1951 Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada). He was also active in Ukrainian politics, both during the revolution and later in emigration. Between 1917 and 1940, he also realized a translation of the Bible into the Ukrainian language, finally published in 1958. His translation of the Gospels became available in 1937, and the rest of the New Testament and the Psalms in 1939. His Ukrainian translation is the one most widely used nowadays, with Ukrainian Bible Society starting to publish mass editions in 1995. Before that, his translation was mainly being published in the USA, Canada, and Western Europe.

It should be noted Jerome translated Psalms from the Hebrew as well as the Greek. Only the Hebrew one in used in this version. Jerome (c. 347-420) began his work in 382. In 386 he moved to Bethlehem and worked on the Old Testament. He began on using the Greek LXX, but quickly decided to work directly from the Hebrew. In 405 the Old Testament, as well as the rest of the New Testament was completed. Due to older Latin texts in circulation, Jerome's work was not widely popular until the ninth century. The influence of Jerome's Bible was quite extensive. For instance, the first knowledge of the Bible in the British Isles was from the Vulgate.

Die Ursprünge der Zürcher Bibel gehen auf die Reformation in Zürich unter Ulrich Zwingli zurück. In den Jahren 1524 bis 1529 erschienen beim Zürcher Buchdrucker Christoph Froschauer zuerst das Neue Testament und dann die einzelnen Teile des Alten Testaments nebst den Apokryphen. Der deutsche Text folgte zunächst der Übersetzung Martin Luthers, gelangte dann aber fünf Jahre vor Vollendung der Wittenberger Bibel zum Abschluss. Am Übersetzen war neben Zwingli vor allem sein Freund Leo Jud, damals Pfarrer an der Kirche St. Peter, beteiligt.

Albert Barnes (1798-1870) was an American theologian, born at Rome, New York, on December 1, 1798. He graduated from Hamilton College, Clinton, New York, in 1820, and from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1823. Barnes was ordained as a Presbyterian minister by the presbytery of Elizabethtown, New Jersey, in 1825, and was the pastor successively of the Presbyterian Church in Morristown, New Jersey (1825-1830), and of the First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia (1830-1867).

Adam Clarke (1760 or 1762 - 1832) was a British Methodist theologian and Biblical scholar. He is chiefly remembered for writing a commentary on the Bible which took him 40 years to complete and which was a primary Methodist theological resource for two centuries. Contained in 6 volumes, consisting of nearly 1,000 pages each, it was considered the most comprehensive commentary on the Bible ever prepared by one man. As a theologian, Clarke reinforced the teachings of Methodist founder John Wesley. He taught that the Bible provides a complete interpretation of God's nature and will. He considered Scripture itself a miracle of God's grace that "takes away the veil of darkness and ignorance." With such an understanding, Clarke was first and foremost a Biblical theologian, often uneasy with purely systematic approaches to theology.

The term 'Mishna' basically means the entire body of Jewish religious law that was passed down and developed before 200 CE, when it was finally redacted by Rabbi Yehudah haNasi (Judah the Prince). He is usually simply referred to as 'Rabbi'. Prior to the time of Rabbi, all Jewish Law was transmitted orally; It was expressly forbidden to write and publish the Oral Law, as any writing would be incomplete and subject to misinterpretation and abuse. However, after great debate, this restriction was lifted when it became apparent that it was the only way to insure that the law could be preserved. To prevent the material from being lost, Rabbi took up the redaction of the Mishna. He did not do this at his own discretion, but rather examined the tradition all the way back to the Great Assembly.

Smith's Bible Dictionary, originally named A Dictionary of the Bible, was a 19th-century Bible dictionary containing upwards of four thousand entries that became named after its editor, William Smith. Its popularity was such that condensed dictionaries appropriated the title, "Smith's Bible Dictionary". The original dictionary was published as a three volume set in 1863, in London and Boston, USA.[1] This first edition was followed in 1893 by an expanded four volume version which was published in the United States as A dictionary of the Bible comprising its antiquities, biography, geography, and natural history, edited by Smith and J. M. Fuller. The original publications are now in the public domain; some derivative, commercial versions are still in copyright.

Slovník novozákonní řečtiny je řecko-český slovník k Novému zákonu středního rozsahu se zaměřením na jazykovou stránku slovní zásoby Nového zákona. Měl by umožnit těm, kdo mají alespoň základní znalosti mluvnice novozákonní řečtiny, číst bez problémů řecký Nový zákon. U nás už po několik desetiletí slouží Řecko-český slovník k Novému zákonu, zpracovaný původně J. B. Součkem, který vyšel v r. 1997 už v pátém vydání. Jedná se nepochybně o znamenité a v mnohém ohledu osvědčené dílo. Součkův slovník vznikal ovšem v určité době a snažil se pokrýt potřeby tehdejších studentů. Je to např. částečná náhrada konkordance k Septuagintě. Má i některé další specifické rysy. K nim patří např. rozdělení hesláře do tří oddělených částí (slova obecná, vlastní jména, obtížné tvary) nebo uvádění slovesných hesel ve tvaru infinitivu. Naproti tomu náš slovník se věnuje více jazykové stránce novozákonní slovní zásoby a snaží se svou podobou přiblížit většině existujících slovníků novozákonní řečtiny. Je jistě také prospěšné, existuje-li větší nabídka slovníků, aby si uživatel mohl vybrat ten, který mu lépe vyhovuje.

Containing 3,438 entries cross-referenced and cross-linked to other resources on StudyLight.org, this resource can be classified as a required reference book for any good study library. Vine's Expository Dictionary is a reference guide to New Testament Greek words for English readers. It explains the meaning of the original Greek with the added dimension of the context of the Greek word. For example: In English, the Bible uses only one word for "love," but in New Testament Greek there are four (two being used most often). So Vine's fills the gap between the Bible in English and the original New Testament Greek. Vine's also provides the definition of a word (as used in the King James Version) more accurately than an English dictionary, because it expands the Greek use of the word. For example, the word, "godliness" in 1 Tim. 2:2 is defined in the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary as "1: Divine 2: pious, devout -", but in Vines, it is defined as " 'to be devout,' denotes that piety which characterized by a Godward attitude, does that which is well-pleasing to Him." So we have a fuller meaning of the word by seeing how the word is used in the NT. All scripture references and reference to other entries within the text have been linked.  Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of American English (Info) Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of American English
Noah Webster (1758 - 1843), the author of the readers and spelling books that dominated the American market at the time, spent decades of research in compiling his dictionaries. His first dictionary, A Compendious Dictionary of the English Language, appeared in 1806. In it, he introduced features that would be a hallmark of future editions, such as American spellings (center rather than centre, honor rather than honour, program rather than programme, etc.) and included technical terms from the arts and sciences rather than confining his dictionary to literary words. He spent the next two decades working to expand his dictionary. In 1828, at the age of 70, Noah Webster published his American Dictionary of the English Language (ADEL) in two quarto volumes containing 70,000 entries, as against the 58,000 of any previous dictionary.

 Český studijní překlad jako modul spisu (Info) Český studijní překlad jako modul spisu
Experimentální verze = modul knihy byl převeden na modul spisu.
Český studijní překlad chce přinést současnému českému čtenáři kvalitní a přesný překlad Bible. Jde o překlad studijní, v co největší míře konkordantní a důsledný. Je určen především pro každodenní studium a výklad Písma Písmem. Jeho nedílnou součástí je proto bohatý odkazový a poznámkový aparát. Naší cílovou skupinou jsou hlavně lidé, kteří chtějí jít hlouběji „do Písma“, ale nemají znalost originálních biblických jazyků. Rádi bychom, aby tento nový překlad navázal na národní písmáckou tradici, na kvality a duchovní význam Bible Kralické. Cílem překladatelského týmu je umožnit českému čtenáři, neznalému původních biblických jazyků, bibli nejen číst, ale skutečně hloubkově studovat. Čím se ČSP snaží dosáhnout svých cílů? Na rozdíl od většiny jiných překladů se u mnoha veršů snaží nabídnout nejen tu překladovou variantu, která je překladatelům nejbližší, ale v poznámce pod čarou i další možnosti. Pokud je to možné, snaží se být tzv. konkordantní – tedy stejné slovo v originálním jazyce překládat stejným českým slovem. Používá speciálně vyvinutý bohatý poznámkový aparát, který zahrnuje mimořádný záběr desítek tisíc jazykových, historických a výkladových poznámek a odkazů. Poznámky se zabývají textem a faktografií a vyhýbají se teologickým interpretacím. Tím je ČSP dobrým kandidátem pro široké využití všemi křesťany bez ohledu na církevní příslušnost. Obsahuje také dohromady 70 stran dalších příloh a map. Specialitou ČSP je také to, že při jeho vzniku byl využíván unikátní překladatelský software BTr, vyvinutý na míru vedoucím týmu A. Zelinou. ČSP nechce rezignovat ani na krásu. Je přeložen soudobou a srozumitelnou češtinou a jeho netradiční vazbu navrhl přední český výtvarník Aleš Lamr.

The Imitation of Christ (Latin: De Imitatione Christi) by Thomas à Kempis is a Catholic devotional book. It was first composed in Latin ca.1418-1427. It is a handbook for spiritual life arising from the Devotio Moderna movement, of which Kempis was a member. The Imitation is perhaps the most widely read devotional work next to the Bible, and is regarded as a devotional and religious classic. Its popularity was immediate, and it was printed 745 times before 1650. Apart from the Bible, no book has been translated into more languages than the Imitation of Christ. The text is divided into four books, which provide detailed spiritual instructions: "Helpful Counsels of the Spiritual Life", "Directives for the Interior Life", "On Interior Consolation" and "On the Blessed Sacrament". The approach taken in the Imitation is characterized by its emphasis on the interior life and withdrawal from the world, as opposed to an active imitation of Christ by other friars. In the first ten volumes, Josephus follows the events of the historical books of the Hebrew Bible beginning with the creation of Adam and Eve. The second ten volumes continue the history of the Jewish people beyond the biblical text and up to the Jewish War. It is a description of Jewish history from the capture of Jerusalem by the Seleucid ruler Antiochus IV Epiphanes in 164 BC to the fall and destruction of Jerusalem in the First Jewish–Roman War in 70 AD. The book was written about 75 AD, originally in Josephus "paternal tongue", probably Aramaic, though this version has not survived. It was later translated into Greek, probably under the supervision of Josephus himself. The sources of knowledge of the First Jewish–Roman War are: this account of Josephus, the Talmud (Gittin 57b), Midrash Eichah, and the Hebrew inscriptions on the Jewish coins minted, and Book V of Tacitus Histories. The text also survives in an Old Slavonic version, as well as Hebrew which contains material not found in the Greek version, and which is lacking other material found in the Greek version. Unzip audio index files (AIX) into \audio\ folder of Davar4. Audio data files (in MP3 format) are placed in \audio\ folder in subfolder of same name as AIX file. For example: if you have audio index file bhs.aix in \audio\bhs.aix, then all MP3 files are placed in \audio\bhs\ folder.

Get MP3 audio from http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt00.htm#mp3 (get "Book-by-Book MP3 Files" - not zipped ones!). Files are named differently - fastest way to correct filenames and check file length is to place downloaded files to some directory, together with small utility (d3mp3fix.exe). It will create MP3 files, which can be added to existing folder \audio\bhs\

How to install audio Tanakh:
1) Get tanakh.zip file from link
2) Get all mp3 file(s) which you want to have from link above
3) There is "\audio\" folder in your Davar directory. Create in this "audio" folder "tanakh" and put all MP3 files there.
4) Unzip file tanakh.zip and put resulting file tanakh.aix into "audio" folder.
5) After restart of Davar, you can open tanakh audio in library tree. Remember: NOT all books are available in MP3!

Pokud používáte operační systém Windows XP, změňte cestu instalace na "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Davar4\audio\", v případě, že používáte vyšší verze OS Windows (např. Win 7, Win 8, Win 10) ponechte nastavení cesty instalace tak, jak je přednastaveno "C:\ProgramData\Davar4\audio\". Pokud máte cestu k datovým souborům programu nastavenu jinak, je potřeba ji správně zadat při instalaci, případně soubor AIX a adresář s mp3 soubory zkopírovat tam, kde jej program očekává.

French artist Gustave Doré (1832-1883) produced hundreds of quality Bible story illustrations in his lifetime. These illustrations were used in Bibles of many languages in Nineteenth Century Europe and later in the Americas. Many masters produced such artwork for illustrating Biblical themes, and Doré was among the most famous of them. Doré's realistic style breathed new life into these real stories. Centuries of mosaics, frescos, and stone reliefs, with their precise iconography, along with wood block impressions (recall the ever present halos on particular subjects) had caricaturized many Bible stories in the minds of believers. But his persons and places look real. Gustave Doré's work (and artistic license) was criticized by some in his own day, but these illustrations stand the test of time as good physical representations of important Biblical events.
