Hi folks!

As title says, Davar4 is about 4 months under heavy development. It should keep most of features of D3 and add many new ones. For D4 plans are following:

1) UNICODE (UTF-8 ) encoding, kick off terrible codepages. DONE
Right now, D4 displays well also Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Arabic, ... and all other languages.

2) Tagged Hebrew texts. D3 could use tags only for L2R directions. DONE
Unicode made this request really simple

3) Better support for Hebrew texts. Qere/Ketiv coloring. Vocalization and cantilization marks (so BHS looks much better than in D3). ALMOST DONE

4) Hebrew morphology. The only way, how to (legally) use WHM morphology is to buy licence from Westminster Hebrew Institute. The cost is US$ 7. This will be modul for D4, where user will need to buy key. ALMOST DONE

Also planned to add:
Better search - similar to BW or TheWord programs, regular expressions, statistical results of searching, search for text, strong#, reference and partially for HE/GR morphology and lemmas.
Gematria - it should be special "tool window" for gematria work - search verses/words with some values, calculations,.. also have permission to use some gematria lexicons

... let me here your ideas, what you expect in Davar4!

Maybe automatic transliteration could be done if it would be that fast. Some script that reads the hebrew or greek text automatically and in another window displays immediately transliteration.

Dear Friend JOPL.
I´m a beggining user of davar 3. And I found it so existing. But really I have to much problems to syncronize the reading of BHS. I read all the indications in HELP, but it´s very difficult for me. Zorry.
I suggest this option will be easyer. To create and use files AIX, looks very complicated.
I rather it will be automatical, may be just clicking the verses, etc.

This program its a very great blessing.

(I´ll thank you if explain me how to syncronize the window of BHS with the media player. I already download mp3 files from mechom-mamre web)

1)If you downloaded basic package, with Ecclesiasties in MP3, just click in library tree - audio to speaker icon with BHS narration. It will become colored => AIX is opened. Then open BHS, list Ecclesiasties and click "Play" button => green triangle in toolbar. I think, it is clear and in manual.

2)Creating of Audio index (AIX) is for skilled users, which want to experiment. Users, which did all BHS indexing did it without problems - thank to them, we have ~ 24 hours of MP3 indexed. It works, AFAIK well.

3)Synchronise BHS in Davar3 with media player ... nice joke.

If you describe step by step what is wrong in playing/indexing ... you can get exact answer.[/quote]

WELL, here I´m again. The problem persists.
I think I didn´t download ok.
Please, explain me. I have the file eclessiastes into the folder davar3/audio. I allready unzipped it, but, doesn't work from "the green triangle".. Do you have some suggestion?.

When I download the program, I found "zipped" files, I had to unzipp them. Well, after I have this route:
C:\Davar3\audio\[color=red]bhs_aix[/color]\21_ecclesiastes.mp3 and \Davar3\audio\[color=red]bhs_aix[/color]\bhs.aix
The tree of the frontpage looks: Audio[o] Does it mean that don`t find the files?.

Edgardo, is it so complicated to get [url]http://www.davar3.net/files/davar3_setup.exe[/url]
then run this exe with default c:\Davar3 path and install it?
When you then observe paths, you will find exactly what I described in post above and NOT your paths.
Again: correct path is: C:\Davar3\audio\bhs\21_ecclesiastes.mp3
and C:\Davar3\audio\bhs.aix
so change your path and directories manually please.[/quote]

OH YES, DON´T CARE, I ALREADY TRYED THOSE ALTERNATIVES. THE PROBLEM IS THAT DON´T WORKS FROM THE TREE AND THE "GREEN TRIANGLE", I DON´T KNOW WHY. BUT, THE MODE I USE TO EAR THE MP3, IS "CLICKKING" IN MULTIMEDIA MENU, AND AFTER I SELECT THE MP3 FILE IN A WINDOW. REALLY I TRYED THOSE OPTIONS. BUT, I THANK YOUR PATIENCE. I DIDN´T WISH TO ANNOY YOU. AND I UNDERSTAND. SORRY. THANKS FOR ALL.

I already have fixed the problem. I uninstalled the application, and run again the installer. Then, no more problems. I think I had done something bad the last time, although, i don´t know what (I remember, the first time I had to unzzip files, but not this time).
But now i can play the Mp3 of ecclesiastes, and I have converted else the mp3 of "mamre web, hebrew bible book by book" with a little aplication that you have in your web. Now I can ear and read simultaneously any book of the Bible.
Thanks for all. I know I have maden a lot of question, I thank your patience again.
Something else, I think that the DAvar 4 could include a window to write the personal coments about some verses. (Have you used e-sword?; it has this feature and it´s so usefull)

Hi Jopl!

Have you considered yet the possibility of making a version for Mac OS X?
I've been reading that you have to generate a package that contains all files of the program, and there's some softwares that help you to do this.

I don't know how it works, but it would be a great asset for Davar program.
